Hal Beumel, Former Director of Construction
Everett Public Schools

Originally constructed in 1970, Eisenhower Middle School’s open concept was once hailed as a “state of the art” school for its time. However, it was soon realized that the aging design began to interfere with the students’ diverse learning styles. The decision was made that a three-part, occupied renovation would be the most efficient and the least invasive to students. The critical connectivity between all learning spaces has been maintained, complete with operable walls between classrooms, adjacent computer labs, and relights into the hallway. The detailed phasing process proved to be more successful than was even originally anticipated as students were able to raise their overall WASL scores despite the construction that was taking place around them.
